Robert Owen Hare, 80, of Meyersdale died Jan. 15, 2004, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. He was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Garrett, a son of the late Clenan Cecil and Nannie (Murray) Hare. He is preceded in death by brother, Kyle Hare and sister Alma Andrews. He is survived by wife, Dorothy (Engle) Hare and daughter, Amy, wife of John Gilbreath, Fort Hill, and granddaughter, Amanda Harkcom of High Point, N.C. He is also survived by sisters; Eva Gress of Davidsville and Joyce Bolden of Connellsville. He was the retired postmaster of Berlin and was a member of the American Legion Charles E. Kelly Post 112. He possessed a passion for music and played in many string bands and also had an avid interest in carpentry and woodworking. He was a member of St. Paul's UCC where he was a deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. Friends will be received Friday at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home. He will lie in state in St. Paul's UCC Saturday until 2 p.m., time of service. The Rev. Bruce Ashlock officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Paul Cemetery.
