Lillian M. Ahern, 96, died Wednesday at a Portland nursing home following a brief illness. She was born in Portland, a daughter of George and Isabelle (Cogger) Ritchot. She was a graduate of Portland High School. She was employed for 33 years by New England Telephone Co. as an accounting clerk, retiring in 1968. Mrs. Ahern was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Mercy Hospital Auxillary, The Visitation Sodality, Legion of Mary of Holy Cross Church and professed in the third order of the Carmelites. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church. Her husband, Joseph H. Ahern, died in 1934. Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Gladu (John A Gladu) of Lakeland, Fla. and Shirley Carson (Robert B Carson) of Falmouth, seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren. Funeral Mass Monday at Holy Cross Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
