OBITUARY Iron River Reporter July 23 1997 “Obituaries: Mildred Maxwell Henderson”
ALVIN, Wis.-Mildred (Millie) Henderson, 91, died July 19 at the Iron River Nursing Home.
She was born March 29, 1906 in Iron River. The daughter of the late William and Anna (Johnson) Hanson was a life long resident. She attended the Iron River schools and graduated from Iron River High School in 1923. In 1924 she married John H. Maxwell and the couple built Pine Acres on the Brule River and owned and operated the lodge for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1939. She later married Cyril Jack Henderson in 1949. She worked at J.C. Penney’s Co. in Iron River and for many years was a bookkeeper for the Kool Kitchen Gas Company in Iron River. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She was a very active member of the 20th Century Women’s Club of Iron River and a member of the Women’s Club of Alvin-Nelma. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She was also preceded in death by a brother W. Douglas Hanson and a sister Gertrude.
She is survived by her husband of Alvin; a sister-in-law Mary Hanson of Stephenson; two nephews, William H. (Muriel) Hanson and Frank D. (Kathy) Hanson; two nieces, Marge (Tony) Mallien and Mary E. (Jim) Mallien; two cousins, Nancy Nasser and Lucille Mosca.
Visitation was held Tuesday, July 22 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 22 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. G. Richard Troost, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Iron River, officiating.
Burial was in Iron River Cemetery.

1910 US CENSUS for Iron River Michigan shows William Hanson head age 30 married born abt 1880 Sweden immigrated 1882. Annie wife age 33 married born abt 1877 Sweden immigrated 1883. Douglas son age 6 born abt 1904 Wisconsin. Mildred daughter age 4 born abt 1906 Michigan. Marie [Gertrude] daughter age 1 born abt 1909 Michigan. Parents both born Sweden for all.
