August 29, 1920 - August 27, 2011 OKLAHOMA CITY Orus A. Bearden, 90, passed away on August 27, 2011 at his home in Oklahoma City. Orus was born in Wichita County, Texas, on August 29, 1920 to Orus A. and Emma Poszman Bearden. He graduated from Wichita Falls Senior High School where he was a member of the football team. He attended Southeastern State College in Durant, Oklahoma, on a football scholarship. He went into the aviation sheet metal trade and worked at Consolidated Aircraft Company in San Diego, California. He volunteered for service in the U.S. Army during World War II and was in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy. In 1946 he moved to Oklahoma City and began his career with The General Motors Parts Division, retiring in 1975. Orus married Helen L. Brown on October 5, 1950. He was preceded in death by Helen on their 55th Wedding Anniversary; by his sister, Doris Rushing; and his brother, "Jack" Bearden. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Bearden; nieces, Carol A. Brown of Oklahoma City, Barbara Corcoran (Hugh) of Owasso; nephew, Larry Joe Brown of Oklahoma City; and many more nieces and nephews. Orus loved the sport of fishing and talking about fishing days with his many dear friends. The family of Orus wants to thank Larry Cook and The Leroy Sneed Family for their loving support and never ending friendship. Visitation will be on Monday and Tuesday, August 29th-30th, from 8a.m.-8p.m. Services will be held at Guardian Funeral Homes West Chapel on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be mailed to the Oklahoma Fish and Wildlife Department http://www.wildlifedepartment.com/fishing/contactus.htm
