PRINCETON, Sept 25--The funeral of James W Alexander, former president of the Equitable Life Assurance Society, who died Tuesday at the home of his son, Henry M Alexander, at Tuxedo Park, took place yesterday at Trinity Episcopal Church here, and was followed by burial in Princeton Cemetery close to the grave of former President Grover Cleveland....(officiants and bearers)....there was a procession through the campus in which the trustees of the university, of which Mr Alexander was one, and several hundred student took part. Mr Alexander was born in Princeton, and was the son of the Rev Dr James W Alexander, for many years the pastor of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian church of New York City. He was graduated from Princeton University with the class of 1860, receiving the degree of A M and then for two years studied law, being admitted to the New York bar in 1862....retired...made a tour of the world....life trustee of Princeton University...made his home here....He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
