MRS. J.E. OVER DEAD
Word Reaches us Monday of the Death Which Occurred at Kansas City on January 30
The Herald is shocked and grieved this week to learn of the death of Mrs. J.E. Over, which occurred at Kansas City, on Monday January 30, and was due to heart failure and kidney trouble.
The writer has been unable to ascertain the particulars in the case but we are informed that the deceased went to Kansas City a short time ago to receive medical treatment but her case was pronounced hopeless and life was only prolonged a short time after her arrival there.
The remains were brought to Cline the home of the departed and interment was made in the cemetery at that place Saturday, February, 4th, 1905, at 2 p.m.
The late Mrs. Over has been a resident of this county for many years having come here in the early days when the Indians were still in the land. She has resided at or near the present home at Cline for the past twenty years and is personally known to most of the people of the eastern half of the county. Her husband J.E. Over, owns a large ranch and is one of the wealthiest men in the county.
It was the good fortune of the Herald editor to be a personal friend of the deceased and family and it is with the deepest regret that we learn of the untimely demise. Knowing the place she filled as wife and mother in her home, we can realize the anguish and sorrow that has been caused by the removal of that best and dearest friend--mother.
How true is the assertion that, "In the midst of life we are in death." Just at the time when our loved ones are a comfort and delight how often they are called away leaving darkness and gloom where once there was the hope of such a bright and happy day. We of the earth, cannot realize why these things must be so and yet we know that God is just. We cannot question his judgement. With this knowledge however, the sting of death is not healed. We love our friends and even though we know they are in a better world we sorrow for them and long to see once more their faces in the old familiar places.
The Hearld speaks for all who knew the deceased and her family in extending sincere sympathy to the sorrowing ones. No words can console the broken in heart let us hope that consolation may come form a higher power.
