Deanna Deason Dotson, age 73, of Harolds Court, Taylorsville, died Monday, September 24, 2012 at Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley. She was born December 11, 1938 in Buncombe County to the late Woody O. Deason and Zoe Morgan Roller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Daniel Dotson.

Mrs. Dotson was a retired administrative assistant for colleges in the Southeast. She was also a member of Hudson United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin Powell of Hoboken, NJ and Sean Dotson of Granite Falls; one daughter, Louise Bumgarner of Taylorsville; one brother, Jerry Deason of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Alice Forst of Richmond, VA and Carolyn Moreland of Hickory; and five grandchildren, Samuel Powell, Caitlin Dotson, Patrick Dotson, Travis Bumgarner and Kyle Bumgarner.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir conducted by Rev. Joe Parker.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.
