Charles farmed in the Springerton area most of his life. He was an avid hunter. He was a member of the Springerton Christian Church.
He is survived by a son, Michael R. York, of Springerton; a daughter and son-in-law, Hope and John Martin Williams, of McLeansboro; seven grandchildren, Wesley F. York, Sean M. (Emily Hodge) York, Mary M. York, Michaela L. Scattone, and Benjamin C. Scattone, Amy E. (Chris) Evans and Justin T. Williams; three great-grandchildren, Sawyer Hodge, Owen B. Jaeger and Davis W. Evans; one brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Betty Jo York of Carmi; two sisters, Violet Smith and Betty Lou Clark, both of Carmi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clara; a half-brother, Clayton R. York; one sister, Bernadine Phillips; and three half sisters, Louise Melvin, Maxine Oliver, and Beulah Gentry.
