She had been in delicate health for some years and several times her life was despaired of, but by constant vigilance and nursing on the part of her physician and family she regained her health sufficiently to go about again, to direct the affairs of her home, being a very industrious and energetic woman she often went beyond her strength in meeting the daily duties devolving upon her.
Her life's work was done cheerfully, no task being to irksome or menial for her to perform for those whom she loved and sacrificed.
Phillip Brooks said - There is no life so humble that if it be true and genuinely human and obedient to God it may not hope to shed some of His light.
The life of this woman sparkled with true Christian fellowship and communion with God so that we believe that she will be numbered with those to whom the Reveleator John said in chapter 20 verse 6, "Blessed and holy is he who hath part in the first resurrection, on the second death shall have no power but they shall be priests of God and of Christ and shall reign with him a thousand years."
Sister Hedrick was a kind and loving mother.
She leaves to mourn her loss four sons and three daughters.
They will miss her counsel but the virtues in her life time can not be effected if they are faithful unto God.
The righteous lessons taught them by their mother will linger on forever with them.
A mothers love endures through all.
In the face of the world's condemnation a mother still loves on.
She remembers the infant smiles of her child that once filled her bosom with rapture and she loves through eternity.
She was an affectionate wife and none can feel her loss more keenly than he who is left alone.
Lamartine said "The death of a man's wife is like cutting down an ancient oak that has long shaded the family mansion."
From the time of her death the glare of the world with its cares falls upon the husbands heart there is nothing to break their force.
It is as if his right hand were withered as if one wing of his angel were broken and every movement that he made brought him to the ground.
She was a consistent member of the United Brethren church for more than forty years.
Heaven will be more like home to those left behind because mother is there.
We now say goodbye until we meet in the morning.
