Louise Odell, 96 of Weatherford, Texas, passed away in a local nursing home, on Nov 5, 2004. Born Sept. 17, 1908, in a dugout in the southwest corner of Morton County, Kansas, 3 miles east of the present town of Elkhart. She has progressed from "cow chips to electricity." Mrs. Odell was the daughter of Archil F. and Lillie Paronto Cyr. On Feb. 24, 1927, she married Glenn E. Odell in Wichita Falls, Texas. They lived in Lueders, Texas for many years where she was active in the Methodist Church, the Stamford's Pierian Club and was a Past Matron of Eastern Star. She had an interesting and active life with many talents. While living in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, she was involved in many organizations. She filled many offices in the Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Chapter of The National League of American Pen Women, Inc., the Methodist church, and T. or C.'s The Masonic Widows as well as the Sierra Art Society. She toured 50 foreign countries (accompanied by her husband on most of the trips) and the 50 United States. Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters: Donna Lee Lovvorn and husband, Orb, of Stamford, Texas, and Mary Lou Bavousett and husband, Lynn, of Weatherford, Texas; a brother, Gene Cyr of Elkhart, Kans.; grandchildren Tina Steffen and husband Gary of Euless, Texas, Rex Bavousett and wife Jan Moore of Austin, Texas and Lisa Bradford and husband Kyle of Colorado Springs, Cob.; and five great-grandchildren Chris and Erin Steffen, Jan Bavousett, and Baxter and Aubrey Bradford.
A graveside service will be held at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Kans., Nov. 13, 2004, directed by Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Lueders First Methodist Church, Box 276, Lueders, Tex. 79533.
