SEWARD --- Services for Grover E. Aurand, 64, Seward postmaster for 33 years, who died at 3 a.m. Friday, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Seward Congregational church. The Rev. George Moulthrop, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Twelve Mile Grove cemetery near Seward.
A prominent Seward businessman, Mr. Aurand had operated a general store here for 38 years. He was first associated with his father-in-law, the late Arthur Studebaker.
Mr. Aurand was born near Kent, Ill., the son of William and Louise Aurand. He was postmaster in Kent, west of Freeport, for two years and was in business with his brother before he moved to Seward in 1914.
He married the former Ethel Studebaker on Jan. 15, 1913. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of A.F. and A.M., and the Freeport Consistory.
Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Lenore Gantt, Loves Park; a son, Robert Aurand, Seward; five grandchildren; three sisters, Ella Aurand and Mrs. Genora Richtemeier, both of Freeport, and Mrs. Viola Fenton, Phoenix, Ariz.; and two brothers, Orrie and Clarence, both of Kent.
