Robert Ely McDonald was born in Virginia, December 10th, 1845. He died at the age of 80 years and one month.
Mr. McDonald was a veteran of the Civil War and fought on the side of the Confederacy.
Mr. McDonald married Miss Mary Elizabeth Hendricks. To this union was born ten children. Of the ten children eight are living, four boys and four girls.
Two boys were present when Mr. McDonald passed away at B.F. McDonald's home at the White river bridge on the highway. One of the sons, Alex McDonald is in business at the bridge.
After marriage, Mr. McDonald moved to Texas. Later he moved with his family to Oklahoma. In December 1924 on the 8th day they moved to Arkansas near Eureka Springs.
Mr. McDonald died at the home of his son on White river, Saturday night about seven-thirty.
Mrs Mary Elizabeth, his wife was at the bedside of her husband when he passed away. She is getting up in years and it will not be long until she joins her husband in a home not made by hands, but eternal in the heavens.
Mr. McDonald was a Christian and belonged to the Primitive Baptist church.
