Mrs. Murdock graduated from John Hay High School in 1935 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Salem. Before her retirement in 1980, she had been faculty secretary at Kent State University – Salem for 10 years.
She was a member of Salem Senior Citizens, Salem Historical Society, Salem Christian Women's Club, Salem YWCA, RSVP and Retired Workers. Florence (or Louise as she was also known) received many awards including 1995 Outstanding Senior Citizen Award, and the 1981 Volunteer of the Year Award. She was also a member of Rainbow Girls, Eastern Stars – Glendale Chapter and Faith Court of Amaranth. She was a lady with class who practiced her Christian philosophy in her quiet, effective way.
Her husband of 53 years, Donald Lyman Murdock, Sr., whom she married June 27, 1942, preceded her in death February 2, 1995.
Survivors include a son, Donald L. (wife, Janet) Murdock, Jr. of Chagrin Falls, Ohio and grandsons, Joshua, Garth and Carter Murdock; a daughter, Barbara L. Yonker of Salem; a granddaughter, Rebecca (husband, Don) Titherington of Charlotte, NC and great-grandchildren, Don, Matthew and John Michael Titherington; grandsons, Christopher Yonker of Oregon and Aaron (wife, Kristina Cicoria) Yonker of California and great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Natalie Yonker.
Burial will be at Acacia Park Cemetery in
Cleveland.
