Walter Step Beard, 87, died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. A resident of Bon Aqua, and of formerly Williamson County, Mr. Beard was a barber and member of Five Points Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Bessie Mai Anglin Beard. Survivors include a son, Walter "Mack" (Barbara) Beard of Mount Juliet; two daughters, Mildred (James) Craddock of Hendersonville and Ruth (Bobby) Manor of Bon Aqua; a brother, Roy Puckett of Franklin; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday July 3, at Franklin Memorial Chapel with Curtis Manor officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
