HAMILTON, MT — G. L. "Lynn" Wyche, a member of America's Greatest Generation, crossed over the fence to a better range on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Lynn was a cowboy, soldier, horse trainer, outdoorsman, loving husband, father and friend.

Lynn was born to Reo Smiley and Elzie Young Wyche in Stephenville, Texas, on December 27, 1923. At his country's call, Lynn served as a sergeant in the Combat Engineers in Europe.

After World War II, Lynn spent many years as a ranch manager and horse trainer, being three times world champion Arabian cutting horse trainer. Lynn went on to become an NCHA and AHSA judge. He also was an accomplished welder and an excellent fisherman.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister. He is survived by one sister, Lola Mae West, of Pecos, TX; the light of his life, his wife of 37 years, Sharon Wyche, of Hamilton, MT; along with stepdaughter, Kimberly Dornan, of Hamilton, MT; and stepson, Vince Licata, of Mission Viejo, CA. Lynn is also survived by sons, Ronnie, of Chelsea, OK; James D., of San Angelo, TX; daughters, Judy Vanderveer, of Santa Fe, NM; Gal Wyche Kuykendall, of Elgin, TX; as well as six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. His family and many friends will miss him and his stories dearly.

Lynn was a true cowboy – and proud of it! You never had to wonder where he stood. He stood up for what he believed and was never afraid to meet his Maker face to-face. His true love for his wife, horses and fishing will always be remembered.

So, when you hear the soft rumble of distant thunder, you'll know that Lynn Wyche is up there on the Home Range training horses again. Services will be held at a later date.

HAPPY TRAILS, COWBOY!
