Wilburn Louis Barker, 80, of Georgetown died September 30, 2006. He was born near Georgetown on February 19, 1926, to Walter Wilburn Barker and Mamie Elizabeth Ischy Barker. He married Betty Sue Green on March 6, 1952.
In 1989, Wilburn retired as Captain of the Georgetown Fire Department after 23 years of loyal service. Upon retirement, he raised registered Simmental cattle.
Wilburn was a lifelong member of the Strickland Grove Church of Christ. He served as President of Berry's Creek Cemetery Association for many years until 2004, then continued there as a board member until his death.
Wilburn was preceded in death by his parents, brother, R.V. Barker and son-in-law, Joseph Allen Powell.
He is survived by Betty, his loving wife of 54 years, and four daughters, Janet Miller and husband Fred o Houston, Barbara Hanusch and husband David of Georgetown, Nancy Tschoerner and husband Clifford of Jarrell and Carolyn Dunagan and husband Daniel of Liberty Hill. Also surviving is his brother, Walter Joseph Barker and wife Pauline; sister-in-law, Shirley Barker and seven grandchildren, Christopher Hanusch and wife Sarah, Kristi Miller, Clifford Tschoerner, Jr. and wife Rebecca, Joseph Allen Powell, Jr. and wife Jalynn, James Powell, Joshua Powell and Travis Powell and fiancé Crystal Jones. Wilburn leaves three great-grandchildren, Dylan Tschoerner, Jordan Martin and Jazmynn Powell and many dear friends and relatives.
Pallbearers were Georgetown firefighters. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren.
