S.W. BUFFUM DIES IN AMITY
Long-Time Resident Dies at Age 73
Funeral rites for Stephen W. Buffum, 73 who died Friday at his home in Amity from an extended illness were held in Macy’s chapel Monday afternoon, with the Rev. S.J. Osborne officiating.
Mr. Buffum was born in Polk county, the son of Barney and Nancy Buffum, May 2, 1865. In 1888 he was married to Minnie M. Forrest in Dayton. He has been a resident of Amity for many years.
Mr. Buffum is survived by his wife, one son, Glen Buffum, Amity; two daughters, Mrs. Maude Wood, West Salem, and Mrs. Mamie Walker, Portland; four brothers, High Buffum, Carlton, Tom Buffum, George Buffum and Huston Buffum, all of Salem; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Christenson, Salem; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Amity cemetery.
