MRS. O’NEILL DIES, BIG ROCK, DIES
Long-Time Resident of Community Succumbs; Born in Vermont
Big Rock, Ia., June 27 – Mrs. Peter O’Neill, aged 76 years, a resident of this community since young womanhood, died at 6:30 o’clock last night in her home after a long illness of heart disease. Mrs. O’Neill, who was born in Vermont, Nov. 27. 1850, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Rorick, who came west when she was a girl and settled on a farm south of Wheatland. Her marriage to Peter O’Neill occurred in 1877 in DeWitt and the family had lived on a farm west of Big Rock until seven years ago when they retired and moved to town.
Mr. O’Neill preceded his wife in death three years and she is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Winnifred Frewerda, Chicago; Mrs. Lucille O’Brien, Grand Mound; Mrs. Genevieve Nelson, Seattle, Wash,; Mrs. Gertrude Riley. Des Moines and Mary at home; three sons, John D., Martin D., and Joseph L., all of Big Rock; three sisters, Mrs. M. J. Tulty, Mrs. Ellen Gaul, of Atlantic, Ia., and Mrs. Catherine Wilson, Omaha and two brothers: Joseph, Atlantic and William of Bridgewater, Ia. She had been a teacher in the Clinton County schools for many years prior to her marriage.

Big Rock, Ia., June 30 – Funeral services for Mrs. Peter O’ Neill were held in St. Patrick’s Church yesterday morning with the Rev. L. Heiner, pastor, celebrant of the requiem mass. Mrs. Charles Parsons and Mrs. Gregory Mowry sang. Pallbearers were Albert Frewerda, D. W. O’Brien, J. C. Riley, James, John and Thomas O’Neill. Among those from a distance at the service were Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Riley, Des Moines, and Mr. and Mrs. Al Frewerda, Chicago.
