Mrs. Hattie Mae Benner, 70, widow of James G. Benner, a retired Christy Company employee, died at 6:30 p. m. Monday in her home at 124 Morrison Street.
In failing health for three years, she had been seriously ill a week. Mrs. Benner retired three years ago after 34 years with the Christy company.
She was a lifelong resident of the county, born in Riley township September 21, 1884, daughter of Henry A. and Catherine Martin Dorr. On November 12, 1913, she was married to James G. Benner who died December 9, 1918.
She is survived by a daughter, Arlene, wife of Gerald Menkhoff, Morrison Street; two grandchildren, three brothers, Albert, William and Jesse Dorr, Fremont; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Keller, Riley and Mrs. Ralph Sheidler, Fremont.
Friends may call at the Weller-Wonderly funeral home beginning Tuesday evening until 12:30 p. m. Thursday when the casket will be removed to the Grace Lutheran church to lie in state until funeral services at 1:30 p. m. Rev. William Deutschmann, assistant pastor of Grace Lutheran church will officiate, and burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
The deceased was a member of Grace parish.
