Irene "Rene" Dorn,79,of Grand Island,died Sunday, May23,2004 at St. Francis Medical Center. "Rene" was born May 2,1925 in Manchester, England, the daughter of John and
Anna (Weaver)Millward. Sheattended school in England. She and George Dorn were Married during WWII on Nov.17,1945 at
Manchester, England. George came back to the U.S.in 1946 and
Irene followed four months later. Her 21st birthday was spent on a ship in a U.S. harbor. They made their home in
Tekamah, NE and she worked for the Telephone Company in Herman, NE. They moved to Alda, NE in 1957 where she and George ran a motel, and then moved to Grand Island in 1965 and she worked at the Ordinance Plant, and then later worked for Maurice's Apparel Shop.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church,has been a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the Platte Duetsche. She enjooyed playing solitary and doing pzzles. She also enjoyed spending time with her special grandchildren and family.
Irene is survived by her husband, George of Grand Island, one son: Steven and Wife Vicky Dorn of Grand Island, three daughters; (Mrs. Neil) burr of Olathe, KS, Val (Mrs.ED)Dorn-
Schuster of Minden, NE, Becky (Mrs. Russ) Schwenk of St. Libory, NE, eight grandchildreen, three great-grandchildren, one sister: Lean (Mrs.Derek) Colton of Manchester England.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Millward.
