Ruth E. Dikis, 88, of White Hall, died Sunday evening, Nov. 6,2005, at Pittsfield Manor in Pittsfield.
She was born Sept. 21, 1917, in Waverly, the daughter of Frank and Minnie E. Eyer Curtiss.
She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Ann Dikis of White Hall; four grandchildren, Skip (wife, Tawnya) Herdklotz, Brenda (husband, Jos) Tibbetts, Audra (husband, Bob) Mathias and Kevin Herdklotz; 13 great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Connie S. (husband, Virgil Jr.) Booker of White Hall, who were her caretakers. She was preceded indeath by oneson, L. Curtiss (surviving wife, Dianne) Dikis Wiggins of Livermore, Maine.
Ms. Dikis graduated from Waverly High School in 1935. She owned and operated the White Hall Hotel for 15 years, then worked at Kordite in Jacksonville for several years, then worked at the Jacksonville State Hospital and later for the Illinois Department of Public Aid in Springfield, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the White Hall First Christian Church. One of her greatest joys was helping and being there for people who needed someone.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall, with burial at Waverly East Cemetery.
