Mr. Lewis was born March 2, 1953, in Grant to L. D. and Martha Alene Webster Lewis. He was married to the former Debora Edmondson for 28 years.
He was a carpenter and worked construction.
He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He loved deer hunting, squirrel hunting, horses and four-wheeling. He was a member of Union Hill First Congregational Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Debora Edmondson Lewis of Arab; five sons and daughters-in-law: David Lewis, Adam and Kayla Payne Lewis, Robby and Lashanda Lewis, Steven and April Lewis and Rickey and Shannon Lewis; daughter: Tracey Lewis; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerry and Lori Lewis and Timmy and Charlotte Lewis of Gurley; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Linda and Jimmy Bearden, Teresa and Terry Osborne, Mary and Mike Mitchell and Debra Lewis Clemons of New Hope; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Donald Lewis; and sister: Kathy Bearden.
The funeral, with full military rites, was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at Gober Funeral Chapel with Brandon Berry officiating. Burial, with a military honor guard, was in Union Hill First Congregational Methodist Cemetery with Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
Pallbearers were Cory Mills, Dennis Edmondson, Bryan Edmondson, Jeremy Edmondson, Wes Baugh and Adam Clemons.
Honorary pallbearers were Kaden Lewis, Karter Edmondson, Peyton Mills and Braden Edmondson.
