Bentley Rinehart was a pioneer in the equipment for sound recording. He worked as a machinist and invented the "sound box for talking machines" which was patented in 1905 for the Victor Talking Machine Co. Victor became the nation's leading manufacturer of phonographs and records, known for its Victrola phonographs.
Bentley was the son of Casper RINEHART and Christena CULP. He married Bertha VAUGHN (b. 3-JUL-1879, Camden City, Camden Co., NJ); marriage ended in divorce with no children.
Both of Bentley's parents were descendants of Christian HUFFORD, born 1715 in Schwaigern, Germany.
Bentley's father's line was Casper Rinehart, son of Sarah Hufford, who was daughter of Christian III, who was son of Christian II, who was son of Christian b. 1716.
Bentley's mother's line was Christena CULP, daughter of Mary Hufford, who was daughter of Solomon, who was son of Casper, who was son of Christian b. 1716.
Note: The name on the grave marker is badly misspelled: Benlty. There is not another record found with that misspelling. City directories, newspaper articles, marriage record, death record, and all census records show his name spelled as "Bentley."
