Lurlene "Granny" Whitsell, 92, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 at The Heritage Center.

Lurlene was born in Cadiz, Kentucky on September 4, 1919 to the late Ira and Laura Ann (Woods) Alexander.

Lurlene loved her family, and her home was her castle. Lurlene was a pie maker at Wesselman's Lawndale and also worked in the cafeteria at Oak Hill School.

Lurlene is survived by her daughters, Dolores Hart of Evansville, IN, Wanda (George) Lewis of Falls Of Rough, KY, Sandra (Mike) Keil of Cincinnati, OH, Grandsons, Greg (Susie) Tooley, Kelly (Sue) Lewis, Jeff (Shanon) Lewis, Eric (Stephanie) Keil, and Chad (Kim) Keil, Granddaughters, Cindy (Dennis) Wedding, Lisa (Tony) Harrington, Lucretia Curtis, 16 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren;
Lurlene is preceded in death by her husband, Olen Whitsell, her brother, Troy Alexander and a great grandchild, Randy Lewis.

Funeral services will be held Thurs Aug 30, 2012 at 1PM at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47710 with Rev. Glen Flowers officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Friends may visit at Browning Funeral Home August 30, 2012 from 10AM until time of service Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Hospice, 1202 Buena Vista Road, Evansville, IN 47710.
