Daniel Pitchford Patterson born 10/16/1875 is designated "the 2nd" rather than "Jr" because his older half-sibling (who died in 1865) had been given the identical name. Dan's mother was Lurana "Raney" Hart Patterson (Senior had married the niece of his first wife who also had died during the Civil War)
Dan married Della Durham prior to 1898 and the couple had eight children including Dewey, Elsie May, Inez, Clarence, Edith & Acel. (information about Della's maiden name came from his cousin Elsie Patterson Harper who also said five of their eight children were dead but mentioned only two who were still living at that time by name.) He died 3/21/1948 and was buried in Poyner Cemetery where his wife and some of their children are also buried.
