Death of L.G. Buford
Legrande G. Buford of Eldorado Springs died Friday evening at eleven o'clock in St. Mary's hospital in Kansas City. He was brought there from his home Friday afternoon. He had been critically ill for nearly two weeks and his death was a matter of no surprise.
Mr. Buford was a prominent member of one of the oldest and foremost families of this county. He was born in Lafayette county and spent the early part of his life here. He was married to Miss Orra Chinn, a daughter of Judge Joseph G. Chinn of this city. To this union were born two children. Dr. Coleman G. Buford of Chicago and Mrs. W.R. Eckle of Lexington. After the death of his first wife he was married to Miss Lida Maxey of Eldorado Srings. Yesterday was the thirteenth anniversary of their wedding. Mr. Buford was sixty years old. He leaves, besides his wife and two children, a sister, Mrs. Samuel Banks of Columbia, and a brother William Buford of Nevada. He was an exceedingly popular man and his death will be mourned by many friends in different parts of the state.
The body was brought to Lexington Saturday. Accompanying it were his wife, children, Dr. W.R. Eckle and Mrs. Grundy Young of Kansas City.
The funeral was held Sunday morning from the home of Dr. Eckle, 1920 Franklin avenue. Rev. T.M. Cobb conducted the services and burial was in Machpelah.
