A. Wendell Hollenbeck, 91, of Lakeside Drive, Mayfield, NY, died Friday April 4, 2003 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility following a long illness.

He was born in the Town of Mayfield on February 16, 1912. The son of the late Andrew M. and Edith Loucks Hollenbeck.

Mr. Hollenbeck was a graduate of Johnstown High School and attended Johnstown Business College. He worked as an apprentice at the Fulton County Machine and Tool Company. He also was a machinist at General Electric Company, Wood and Hide, Fultonville Machine and the Fulton County Silk Company for many years.
He was the owner and operator of Holly's Service and Marine on Lakeside Drive, Mayfield, retiring in 1977.

Mr. Hollenbeck was a member of Fish House Masonic Lodge since 1947, where he served as master of the Lodge in 1955 and as chaplain. He was appointed Grand State Representative to the Grand Lodge of Queensland. he was a member of the Sacandaga chapter of the Royal Arch Masons. He served as chaplain and as High Priest for three terms. He was also a member of Sigma Bodies, Scottish Right Masonry, Valley of Schenectady, the Fulton Scottish Right club, Johnstown, Cyprus Temple, Albany, Cyprus Temple Clown unit and Adirondack Shrine Club. He was a member of Juanita Chapter order of the Eastern Star since 1951. He has served as patron for eight terms. He was also district Grand lecturer of the Fulton-Hamilton-Herkimer-Montgomery district. He holds affiliations with Saint Monica Chapter OES Johnstown, and is a member of the Kayadetta Court Order of Amaranth of which he served as patron in 1979. He was active in the farm bureau for many years, the Mayfield PTA, Fulton County 4H leader and member of the executive committee of the Fulton County 4H.

He attended the North Main Street United Methodist Church of Gloversville and was a member and past president of the Mayfield Marine and Merchants Association and was a member and past president of the Great Sacandaga Marine Association.

Survivors include his wife Margaret Lippert Hollenbeck whom he married April 22, 1936 in Johnstown, NY; a son, A. Marwen Hollenbeck of Lafayette, Tenn.; a daughter, Margaret Leane Bonfey of Mayfield, NY; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday April 7, at the Northville Funeral Home where a Masonic Ritual will be conducted at 7 p.m. and an Eastern Star Ritual will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday April 8, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville, in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, Springfield, Mass., or the charity of one's choice.
