GAS CITY - Ada M. Burtner, 83, 932 Virgil Drive, died at 4:36 a.m. Tuesday in Marion General Hospital.

She was born in Jonesboro, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Furnish) Owen. The homemaker formerly worked at Farnsworth Radio, Marion. She married Clarence Burtner, who survives. She loved to embroider and sew. She and her husband had attended The Salvation Army Church in Marion and assisted with the annual toy applications. They were in charge of checking all the toy boxes, which were located throughout Grant County, and making sure that the toys were in good condition. Then, they were in charge of the toy giveaway through The Salvation Army. She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy, Gas City. She loved people, and she and her husband visited every nursing home in Grant County and surrounding counties serving and helping the residents. She loved to clown and sculpt balloons. Her clown name was "JoyBell" the Clown. She was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians.

Survivors include children, Orland (Alta) Burtner, Clarence "Jr." (Pam) Burtner and Mary (Herb) Ailes, all of Gas City; a niece; several nephews; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by five sisters; and a brother.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
