Esther was survived by her daughters: Diana Chavez of Gallina, Josie Corrales (husband Charlie) of Belen, and Stella Botelho (husband Rick) of Santa Fe; son Juan Chavez of Gallina, Leon Chavez of Santa Fe, and Pat Chavez of Cuba; grandson raised like a son, Patrick Chavez (wife Lisa) of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters: Faye of Albuquerque, Rosie (husband Randy) of Texas, Irene (husband David) of Bernalillo, Joann of Albuquerque, Cleo (husband David) of Rio Rancho; brothers: Ernest Salazar (wife Marcella) of Santa Fe, Toby Salazar (wife Rosella) of Utah, Eddie, Jimmy, Junior, and Leo Salazar of Utah; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
Esther was a loving wife, mother & grandmother. She worked many years as a cook at Bruno's in Cuba, New Mexico. She could cook up anything you felt like eating. She was a very, very good cook. Esther was a quiet humble individual. What will remembered is Esther's beautiful smile.
Public visitation and devotional service were on September 21, 2012 in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial was in Santa Fe National Cemetery.
