Christopher Columbus Stewart was the son of John Gilbert and Margret Copeland-Stewart. He served in Co. G, 17th Texas Infantry during the Civil War, enlisting in Austin, Texas and serving under Capt. Arnett, Capt. Jeff Maltby, and Capt. D.V. Grant. C.C. Stewart was also a County Commissioner of Burnet County. He married first Charlotte Williams on 15 July 1858 in Burnet County, Texas. He married second to Mariah Johnson.
