Dorothy Irene Meyer, 78, daughter of Carl and Nellie Broughton Heckenlaible, was born July 3, 1918, at Elsmore, Kan. She died Nov. 9, 1996, at the Kabul Nursing Home where she had been a resident for several years. She married Richard Meyer Jan. 19, 1941, in Waukegan, IL. where they lived for several years. They moved to the Tyrone community in 1947 from Round Lake, IL. Mrs. Meyer was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly of God and assisted her husband in the operation of a second-hand store. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; and by a sister. Surviving are five sons, Richard Meyer Jr. of Brooklet, Ga., John Meyer of Jasper, Ala., David Meyer of Enid, Okla., Ron Meyer of St. Ann, IL., and Carl Meyer of Bourbon; a daughter, Martha Welch of Texarkana, Texas; two sisters, Minnie Munson of Uniontown, Kan., and Edith Stanley of Moran, Kan.; 11 grandchildren and 26-great-grandchildren. Services were Nov. 12 at the Tyrone Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Cravens and the Rev. Don Welch officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home of Cabool. [From the Houston Herald]
