Austin W. Mondon Sr.
Marcelline, Ill.- Austin Wilbert Mondon Sr., 82, owner and operator of Mondon Service and Repair in Marcelline, died at 3:45 p.m. Thursday (May 23, 1996) at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Mr. Mondon was born Feb 21. 1914, in Elvaston, a son of Austin W. and Effadella Jones Mondon. He married Samantha Jane Yoe Dec 26, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.
Mr. Mondon attended school in Warsaw and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Ursa. He was a welder and worked for several years for Terry Brothers Construction Co.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth of Ursa and Austin W. "Bud" Jr. of Keokuk,Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. Wilbert (Doris) Smith of Mozier; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the Curry-Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon by the Rev. William Kanne. Burial will be in Westside Cemetery in Tioga.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today with family meeting friends after 6 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Zion United Church of Christ or a charity of the donor's choice.
