Rites set for Shannon Brown, victim of apparent homicide
WOODBRIDGE - Services have been set for Thursday for Shannon Jvan Brown, 34, of Murray Avenue in the Avenel section who was found dead last Wednesday at his home, the victim of an apparent homicide.
Services will be 1 p.m. at the Pentecostal Church of God In Christ, 45 Remsen Ave., New Brunswick, with Bishop Franklin Pettiford officiating. Burial will be at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
He was born in New Brunswick and had lived in South River and New Brunswick before moving to Avenel a year ago.
He was a teacher for the Elizabeth Board of Education for the past three years. His current post was at Grover Cleveland Middle School. He formerly had taught at Elizabeth High School-Jefferson House and at Burr D. Coe Vocational-Technical High School, East Brunswick. He was an instructor for Elizabeth Adult Education night programs and was a member of the N.J. Education Association.
Mr. Brown was a 1973 graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick.
He was member of Greater Full Gospel Church, Bibleway Worldwide, New Brunswick.
Surviving are his mother, Bessie Mae Brown of Morrisville, Pa.; his father, Leo Brown of Three Rivers, Mich.; two sisters, Mary Smith of Morrisville, Pa., and Rose Ann English of Columbia, S.C.; and four brothers, Ricky L. and Charles, both of the Somerset section of Franklin, and Gerald and William, both of New Brunswick.
Arrangements are under direction of Anderson Funeral Service, 201 Sandford St., New Brunswick.
