Son of Charles and Eliza G. (Hastings) Daniels.

On 12 Jul 1861 Marcus, a shoemaker, signed up to serve with Company G, of the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Grafton, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was 19 years, 1 month and 12 days old.

Marcus ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts having never left the state apparantly for health reasons, according to the 1870 roster.

Starting 25 Sep 1862, Marcus later served in the 51st Massachusetts, Co. E having reenlisted.
He ended his service by mustering out on 27 Jul 1863.

Marcus married Jane Mary Carr, daughter of John Carr.

Marcus was enumerated in the 1890 US Federal census, Veteran's Schedule in Jun 1890 at North Grafton, MA, as having been a member of the 51st Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, noting that he now suffers chills and feaver and has heart trouble.

On 15 Aug 1890 Mary Jane Carr, his wife, died at Grafton, MA, at age 42 of consumption.

Marcus M. Daniels died on 29 Feb 1892 at Grafton, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was 49 years, 8 months and 28 days old.
