Warren was the second of three sons born to Charles L Buettner and Tena Ovedia Buettner. His older brother was Wallace Buettner and his younger brother was Robert E Buettner. He married Vera Ruth Shorthill and had three children, Terry, Charles Eddie, and Tena Sue. He was an Air Force B-26 pilot in Europe during WWII. He made the Air Force a career, and retired in 1965. After Vera died he married Rose Miller Buettner and they resided in Escalon until his death.
