MRS. J. T. DAVIS DEAD
Mrs. J. T. Davis died at her home, 528 Cottonwood street early this morning, after an illness extending over seven years. Mrs. Davis was born in Indiana, April 28, 1849, her maiden name being Orpha Jane Lang. Early in life she moved to Iowa, and came to Kansas when a young woman. In August, 1868, she married J. T. Davis, who survives her. To them four children were born, three of whom are living. They are Miss Sarah Davis, Mrs. Leota Atkinson, and Gussie Davis. Two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Spencer and Mrs. Lizzie Marcellus, and a brother, J. R. Lang, live in Emporia, while one sister, Mrs. Malinda Main, lives in Seneca, Mo.
In 1870 Mrs. Davis united with the Christian church and although an invalid all her life, she was a faithful attendant when her health would permit. The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the home, 528 Cottonwood. The services will be conducted by Rev. W. A. Parker.
