Doris Elizabeth Billings, 81, died September 1, 2012 in Angelus Oaks, California, of cancer. She has been a resident of Redlands since 1956.

She was born in Glendale, California in 1931 and graduated from Orange Coast College and attended the University of Redlands as Church Music Major. She received her BA and MA in education from CSUSB in 1979 and taught Junior First, First grade, and Kindergarten at Crafton Elementary School in Redlands for 20 years.

She was a church organist from the age of 17 and served in Redlands churches at the First Presbyterian for 11 years, and the First Baptist Church for 40 years.

She is survived by two of her four children: Donna Jean Goodner (Ken) of Angelus Oaks, and Daniel John Cadwallader (Beverly) of Tucson, Arizona, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and a brother, John C. Billings, Ridgecrest, CA. She was preceded in death by daughter, Denise Marie Baernstein, and son, David Michael Cadwallader.

She was a member of Redlands First Baptist Church, The Spinet Music Club, American Guild of Organists', California Retired Teachers' Association, American Association of University Women and Plymouth Associates. She volunteered for Redlands Community Hospital Hospice Program, Meals on Wheels, Mustard Seed Tutorial Center and Plymouth Village. She participated in bell choirs, Master Chorale and Community Chorus.

A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church in Redlands on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. A private interment will be at Hillside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church Music Program, 41 West Olive Street, Redlands or Redlands Community Hospital Hospice, 350 Terracina Blvd., Redlands.
