Judy was born in Forreston, Texas on November 14, 1921 to her now deceased parents Mr. & Mrs. Pat Appling. She graduated from Waxahachie High School and attended Texas Womens University and Trinity University. She enjoyed many outdoor and indoor activities that included rodeo riding, horseback and trail riding. She took great pride in decorating her vintage Waxahachie home and her travels with her husband Wayne.
Judy was employed by Texas Power and Light and retired in July of 1983. A senior service advisor at TPL, she was responsible for the first all electric homes built in Dallas County. The home is in Seagoville and owned by the original family.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Sheriff Wayne McCollum and numerous cousins and close friends.
Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, Septmeber 20, 2012 at the Hillcrest Burial Park in Waxahachie, Texas with Walter Buchanan officiating.
Interment will follow. Pallbearers will be Larry Croy, Jeff Croy, Willie Lee Mackey, Cary Tobolka, Michael Tobolka and Ted Tobolka. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
The family wishes to sincerely thank all those who helped care for Judy, especially Pat and Faye and Lighted Pathways Health Services. In Lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church.
