Funeral Services for Henry F. Larson, 71, Dows, were held from First Presbyterian Church in Dows on Tuesday, July 25, 1989, at 11 a.m. Rev John Mann officiated and burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery, Dows. Military rites were conducted by Watson-Beach Post #523 of the American Legion.

Elledge Funeral Home of Dows was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Robert Larson was the organist.

Casket bearers were members of the American Legion and they were Borge Andersen, Homer Howard, Dennis Moore, Neil Muhlenbruch, Kennth Nielsen and Telbert Tonderum.

Henry died Thursday, July 20, 1989 at Veterans Hospital, Iowa City.

Henry was born in Dows, August 27, 1917 to Frank and Claudia Cutler Larson. In 1935 he graduated from Dows High School and began working in Dows at the Byron Meyer Company as a hog buyer. He continued this until November 1941 when he entered the U.S. Army. After his discharge in 1945 he came back to Dows and took up where he left off. As a hog buyer from 1972 until 1979, he worked for McAdams Livestock, Inc. and retired in 1980.

Survivors include two sisters, Julia May (Peg) Rummens of Webster City and Elba Meneuy of Fayette; two brothers, Lyle of Miami, FL and Alfred C. of Temecula, CA.

His parents and one brother Carl preceded him in death.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Watson-Beach Post #523 of the American Legion, Carnelian Lodge #425 A.F. and A.M. where he held the office of Secretary, Mt. Lebanon Commandery #61 in Clarion, and was district lecturer for the Masons. He was also a member of the Shrine of North America in Cedar Rapids. Henry was past President of the Dows Golf Course, past Master of Carnelian Lodge #425 of Dows, and was past Grand Tyler of the Grand Lodge of the State of Iowa.
