Thomas was one of 11 children born to Margaret (Payne) and Thomas George Harris;

The family lived in England and Ireland during father Thomas's service in the English military. After an injury he left the military and the family came to Canada and then to Ripon Wi.

Thomas married Elizabeth Hargrave daughter of Mary Watt (Russell) and Walter Hargrave about 1849 and together they had 6 children, known children are;

Evangeline Elizabeth - 1852
Anna Caroline - 1854
Bertha Jane - 1867
Jessie B - 1872


Thomas was in the Civil War in 1862, and became a lawyer after the War. He returned to Ripon and was a Justice of The Peace in Ripon 1866-1867. He died of gradual worsening of epilepsy and is buried with his wife and 2 of his daughters in Hillside Cem Ripon Wisconsin.
