Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City with Pastor Jean Ohman officiating. Wallace (Wally) Henry Palm was born to Fred and Hilda (Schaberg) Palm on August 29, 1916 at the family farm near Grove City, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church of Grove City. He and his dear sister Frances grew up and attended the Grove City school, where he graduated in 1934, during the Depression. Jobs were scarce, so Fred hooked his best team of horses to a wagon, loaded some equipment, and told his son that ""maybe he ought to go farm the Swede Grove farm"". Wally made that farm his life, and after he and Frances (Buttke) were married June 1, 1940, they spent the next 60 years there, and brought up son Bruce and daughter Sharon. Wally devoted time to his family, his farm, his church, and his community. He served on the country school board, the township board, the creamery board, was a deacon in his church for 18 years, served on the Community Homes board, was a director on the Federal Land Bank board for 31 years, and was a Grove City Lion for 20 years. His second love was singing, and he was a charter member and sang with the Kandi-O-Hi-Lo Barbershop Chorus for over 30 years, the Litchfield Male Chorus for 10 years. He was named Meeker County's 1992 Outstanding Senior Citizen, and kept right on delivering Meals on Wheels until he was a recipient of them. Wally and Fran hosted family and friends often and well. They would visit or play cards, or Wally would play his accordion. Coffee was always served, along with 'a little lunch' or a nice meal. He and Fran celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary June, 2010.

Wally is survived by daughter Sharon Smith (and Brad Bird) of Grove City; daughter-in-law Lynne (and Ardell) Thompson of Grove City; granddaughter Heidi Palms of Minneapolis; grandson David (and Marcy) and great grandchildren Jacob and Emilia Palm of Fort Collins, CO. Honorary family members are David; Dean (and Laura) and Matthew; Brian (and Audra), Alisha and Paul (Janny) and Evaydrian; Jeff, Chris (Danette) and Mike; Craig (and Heather), Jenna and Andrew Bird; all of the Twin Cities. He is survived by many nieces and nephews; many dear friends; and his caring friends from Emmanuel Home in Litchfield, who treated him like family.

He is preceded in death by Fran, parents, son Bruce, sister Frances and all sisters and brothers-in-law.

Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery.
