A loving wife, mother and grandmother; a devoted Christian and Sunday school teacher; she is greatly missed to this day.

As related by her daughter, Janie, Mary was rushed to the hospital on the morning of January 19, 1966 with a sudden, severe headache. She died shortly after arrival to the hospital due to a brain aneurysm.

From the Macon Telegraph, January 19, 1966:
Ft Valley - Mrs Mary Railey Jackson, 57, died unexpectedly about noon Wednesday at the Peach County Hospital. She was a native of Crawford County and had lived here a number of years. She was a member of the Ft. Valley Second Baptist Church. Survivors are her husband, Thomas B. Jackson of Ft. Valley; three daughters, Mrs Sara B. Howell of Crane, Ind., Mrs. Janie B. Dunn of Macon and Mrs. Minnie C. Bonner of Eatonton; three sons, Thomas L. Of Waukegan, Ill., Larry G. and R. Wayne Jackson of Ft. Valley; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Jackson and Mrs. Kelly Smith of Ft. Valley and Mrs. Elwood Clark of Sandersville; three brothers, Nelson, Heman, and W. F. Railey of Ft. Valley; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
