Services for Mrs. Isabel "Be" Acosta Smith, 84, of Monroe, will be at 10:30AM, Saturday, November 18, 2006, at St. Matthew Catholic Church with a rosary followed by the funeral service at 11 AM. Interment will be in Roselawn Gardens, Calhoun, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mrs. Smith was born to Viola and Jesse Acosta in Baton Rouge, LA on September 7, 1922, and went to her heavenly home on November 10, 2006. She was the youngest of three girls, and from then on she was affectionately called "BeBe" by family and friends.

She married V. O. Smith in February, 1948. She was a homemaker in Monroe and West Monroe for over 40 years. During that time she and her husband enjoyed LSU football, family trips to the beach, horse races, dance clubs, and much travel. She loved the holidays, and making them special for their grand children. After her husband died, she then moved back "home" to Baton Rouge to be with her sister, Dot, and other relatives. She renewed old friendships and made new friends through the Newcomers Club and local bridge clubs. She also continued to enjoy the game of golf and any neighborhood card game. She was visited often by her daughters and grand daughter, Renee, who was attending LSU. She returned to Monroe in 2005 to live at Azalea Estates. There she again made many friends and loved them to join her playing bridge, dominoes, and working large puzzles. She was a devoted Catholic all of her life, as was her mother. She would say, "I can count the number of times on my fingers that I have ever missed Mass."

"BeBe's" greatest joys were her grandchildren, Neil and Renee; and her three great grandchildren, Sarah Beth and Mary Carter Shipp and Nathan Lynn. She also had two step grandchildren, Sara and Matthew. She was very close to her two daughters, Lynn and Leah; sons-in-law, Earl Shipp and Pat Miller and her grandchildren's spouses Nici and Rob. All who knew Mom admired her youthful beauty, and her love of family and friends. Mother, your love will sustain us forever, Lynn and Leah.
