He was born November 25, 1934, in Mauldin and was the son of the late Harvey Lee and Virginia Baldwin Bramlett of Mauldin and son-in-law of the late Walton and Maurice Jones Green of Greenville.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Joe served the Greenville City Fire Department for 33 years and retired as assistant chief. He enjoyed playing golf with the Seniors of Lakeview Golf Club.
He was a member of Laurel Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and their husbands of Greenville, Kathy B. Langley and husband Barry and Debbie B. Gresham and husband Tim; three grandchildren, Angie J. Knight and husband Chris of Taylors and Joseph Gresham and Mikki Gresham, both of Greenville; and one great-grandson, Brett Knight of Taylors; a brother, Bobby R. Bramlett; a sister, Betty B. King, and husband Ed, both of Mauldin; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth A. Bramlett of Aiken; a nephew, Tony R. King and family of Simpsonville; and a niece, Vicki B. Rutland and family of Aiken. He was predeceased by two brothers, Hugh Thomas Bramlett of Mauldin and James Bramlett of Chester, and also a niece, Wanda B. Kinnett of Chester.
Services will be conducted Saturday, September 24, 2005, at 11 a.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.
Retired and active Greenville city firemen and members of the Seniors of Lakeview Golf Club are asked to serve as honorary escort.
