Fern married Donald Vernon McDermott and they are the parents of three wonderful children. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed being a grandma. She was devoted to serving her family. She loved to crochet, embroidery, oil paint and sew. She shared her many talents with all of us.

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Fern served as Relief Society President, primary teacher and dedicated visiting teacher. She enjoyed working in the St. George Temple, helped begin the extraction program and volunteered at the St. George Library.

She is survived by her son, D. Richard McDermott (Gloria); daughter, Robbyn Wagstaff (Brent); daughter, Patricia Durrant (Allan). She leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse and siblings.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at the St. George City Cemetery, 700 E Tabernacle. Family and friends may call Monday morning, September 17, 2012 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 N 300 W, Cedar City, Utah.
