Margaret died in 2000; below is her obituary:

Margaret Shook Caraway, 73, of Victoria, died Thursday, July 20, 2000.

She was born April 16, 1927, in Port Lavaca, to the late Dennis L. and Flossie Bales Elswick. She was retired owner of Earl's Cafe‚ and a member of First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors: husband, Elmer Hoy Caraway; daughter, Penny Peyer of Victoria; sons, Mike Shook, Dennis Shook and David Shook, all of Victoria; stepsons, James E. Caraway of Victoria and Donnie Caraway of Walton, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: husband, Earl Lee Shook; daughter, Dennese Shook Maresch; sister, Evelyn McAfee.

Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Colonial Funeral Home chapel. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery, the Rev. Johnny W. Knight officiating. Colonial Funeral Home, Victoria, 578-3535. Memorials: First Assembly of God Church
