Albert R. Montesi, 81, of Berlin NH, passed away on April 27, 2008, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester NH. He was born in Boston MA on Sept. 27, 1926, the son of John and Agnes (Cassanora) Montesi, and had made his residence at Nay Pond in West Milan NH for many years before moving to Berlin. His wife Leona predeceased him on June 10, 1996.

He had been a leader in the Senior Scouts for 33 years in Beverly MA. He was a member of Gilkey Lodge #101 F&AM in Groveton NH where he served as Worshipful Master from 1990 to 1994 and also served as Secretary from 1996 to 1998. He was a member of the Massachusetts Scottish Rites where he was a 32nd degree mason and the Major Henry Knox Lodge of Boston MA. In the Commandery he had served as Captain General with the Saint Gerard Commandery #4 in Littleton NH. He held the Major General John Sullivan Medal for Distinguished Service.

After serving 3 years in Germany with the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1948, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves where he attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Four. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Beverly MA as a letter carrier. In December 1972 he was recalled into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his release from the Army he was employed with the U.S. Army as a civilian both at Fort Devens MA and Hanscom Air Force Base in MA. In December 1981 he retired from Civil Service and in January 1982 he retired from the U.S. Army Reserves. During the first Gulf War he was placed on a Special Recall status. Albert was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Warrant Officers Association. While residing for many years at Nay Pond in West Milan, he made many friends in the Milan and Berlin area.

He leaves behind his wife Elena M. Montesi of Berlin; sons Albert D. Montesi and wife O Pok, and John P. Montesi of Rhode Island; grand-daughter Leona S. Montesi; step-daughters Elenamay Reyes of Luke Air Force Base AZ, Tess Sherman of Midland TX, and Pearl Troutt of Minnesota; step-sons Enrique Maiden of Altmeda CA, Dan Miranda of South Korea, and Michael J. Miranda of Hurlburt Field (Eglin Air Force Base) Florida; nieces and nephews; and relatives residing in Italy.
