Vernon Bevie Pate was born June 23, 1930 in Timpson, Shelby County, Texas to Bevie Odell Pate and Lois Powers. He died August 12, 2012 in Gilbert, Arizona.
Vernon married Hazel Joan Burnett, June 25, 1988 in Austin, Travis County, Texas. Joan is the daughter of Homer Bill Burnett and Loree Williams.
At the time of Vernons death he was 82 and lived in Queen Creek, Arizona. He left this life to be with the Lord.
Vernon touched many lives with his love and gentle spirit. He was a man of great faith and prayer. He will be forever in our hearts and will be greatly missed. We know that Heaven has a special place for Vernon.
Vernon was predeceased by his parents, two half brothers and one half sister. Also, by his step-father, and two step-children.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife Joan, four step-daughters, Brenda Cuellar (John), Linda Morado, Pam Werthen (Bill), Debbie Martinez (Steve). Fifteen step-grandchildren, 32 step great-grandchildren, one step-great-great-grandson, two half sisters and one sister-in-law.
Allen Funeral Home in Mesa, Arizona was in charge of his service.

Vernon graduated from the Texas School for the Deaf in 1950, after attending there for thirteen years. He was employed as a houseparent at Texas School for the Deaf in Austin, Texas.
While residing in Center, Shelby County, Texas, he was employed at the Menefee Cleaners on the square and also at Wilkins Cleaners. He left Center in 1975 to accept a position at the State School.
