AGED CITIZEN COMMITTED SUICIDE
Friday morning the 24th instant, J.T. Dyer, age 70, who resided at the Neih? Boarding house on Broadway in this city, committed suicide by taking two ounces of carbolic acid.
The only reason he assigned for the act was that he was old, crippled and not able to work and impoverished. He occupied a room with his son Albert and wife and baby who were taking the best care of him they possibly could.
The long cold spell of weather made it impossible for the son to provide him with the necessities and comforts of old age, so the old fellow, as he said, took the easiest way out of it.
A son and daughter who live near Bethel in this county came to his funeral. Burial was made at Holly Creek cemetery late Saturday afternoon.
