George Charles Christie, 84, died at 1:50 AM Saturday, Oct. 18, 1986, in Home Hospital, following an extended illness. Born Aug. 12, 1902, in Frankfort, he had lived most of his life in Lafayette. He was employed at Rund Packing Co. for 43 years and was on the Lafayette Street Department for 10 years, retiring in 1973. He was married Sept. 11, 1921 to Belle Ford, an employee at O'Rear's Pastry Shop; she died Aug. 29, 1986. An Army veteran of World War I, Mr. Christie was a member of Hope Chapel Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years, and a member of Masonic Lodge 123. Surviving are two daughters, Mary (Mrs. Marvin) Courtney of Lafayette, and Mrs. Martha Arnold Pinkos of Hinsdale, IL; a sister, Mrs. Goldie Wagner of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Service Oct. 21, Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, the Rev. Donald Howitz officiating. Internment in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with American Legion graveside rites.
